CUSTOMISING YOUR PAGE

Ok guys you want to know how to change the backgrounds and customise your page. Once you get the hang of it its quite easy. When i set this up I thought what would you all like. Well I knew you liked the simplicity of the blogging, I knew you liked to be able to change your background. I knew you liked adding videos and you wanted something stable. I knew you all wanted to be together. I also made this network open to all. Hopefully I haven't created a monster but we are still bound by terms and conditions and hopefully wont be a rubber teeth organisation like Yahoo. I think I found everything you wanted in Ning. I added every service I could think of lol. And yes you have to make do with my pen name lol, well I created it lol Oooooo the power lol! Seriously let me talk you through how to change things and move your boxes around. Let's start with the boxes. They all have to stay in their respective columns but you can put them in the order you want, its simple just click on the edge and drag for PC users probably right click and pull to where you want. To change colours and themes add a background etc on your left hand column you will notice a little box under your photo where is says "change my photo or theme" click on it (Now I selected this pink and black theme as a basic as you know me for pink but you don't have to keep it lol unless you want to lol) The edit your appearance page will come up, click a theme (this one I selected is called 'social blush') now customise it how you want.

You will see three columns, basic (now you can keep the themes colours if you want or click 'all options' do not click Advanced unless you are adept at CSS and html. So lets be daring and click all options.

The funny checkerboard thing means transparent to change all you do is click and your colour options come up, chose whatever and a way you go.

So thats the colour done, now lets try a background pic. There are several options to use a pic Side image, thats down the sides of your page, the header at the top, and the body of the page thats the centre, you could have a real busy background here and cover your page in You, You and You doing allsorts of activies or postions, the mind boggles lol. So to change, you will see a camera icon go on be daring and click, You know you want to lol! Click where it says none a window will open up and you have an option to upload from your computer, then click done and thats all you do. Once you have the hang of this, the possibilities are endless, giving you more control and possibilities than the old 360.

Lets go on to adding widgets, if like me you are a snapvine fan and like to amuse yourself listening to others make a fool of themselves, hey come on its fun and if you cant laugh at yourself, what a sad world this would be you do this in the centre column all you do is click edit and add the javascript or html and away you go. Unlike multiply widget adding is easy as javascript is not always accepted there. On the left under the profile pic you will see a link to click add profile Apps, click that and it will give you some more suggestions.

Lets go to Photos next dead easy just click and the options come up you can upload direct from your computer or from Flickr or whatever. Groups next, well if you want another group say " Martha's Millionaires" well here it gives you the option to create send out invites, the option to make it open or select say to those gentlemen Martha has stipulated only earn a lot of money and she can Moderate it. Hey form your own clique whatever lol! Just be nice lol!

Now lets move on to videos, now this feature is better than 360, you can add from You Tube or Goggle just as you did before using the embed code or add your own home videos from your computer Oooo what fun lol! use your phone to make videos up load it to your computer and bore us all silly with Bob blowing raspberries what the heck, this is YOUR site make it fun. To do just click where it says add videos and the loading page comes up follow the instructions.

Music is a bit tricky, we are bound by copyright here and quite rightly I make my living from royalties and in my first book it was only 10% of the wholesale value, if someone buys it or borrows it from the library or wishes to post excerpts you have to give me 40 pence lol, so please read the small print when uploading, but if you are familiar with Multiply its exactly the same to upload from your computer. Supposing you havent got permission well guys I have thought of this to keep to the rules ADD a WIDGET a music player from certain sites such as the one I have on my Web page http://www.maggiebrownonline.com Now lol to find out what that is You will have to go look, hehehehehe Maggie has ways of making you visit. All you do here is add the javascript of the music player to your centre box and viola your music, you can stick a video slapbang in the middle there if you want. Play around and enjoy. Feeds are easy if you know your feed URL just click and add. I will at some point show you how to burn a feed to any page you like at some point but I think you've enough to do right now.

Lets have fun and no drama However supposing this site gets infected, I've made it open to increase numbers, well there is a way to deal with this too. Under the profile you click "remove friend and ignore messages. You can even set your comments to be approved only so no one can random leave comments if you don't want. I think I have covered everything. Lastly you are bound by the terms and conditions of Ning so check them out please. Now what are you waiting for go out and multiply and lets make this better than 360 Oh one other thing we can link this page to our Yahoo Profiles, via making links in your welcome box in the middle here and through Yahoo Buzz Blog Logs. Yahoo have automatically provided you with this feature but I will explain about that later

HOW TO CREATE AN EXTERNAL HYPERLINK
You may want to create a hyperlink to an external site such as Flickr or Photobucket etc. This is useful as your page is limited on how much storage you are allowed and it also solves the problem of slow loading pages when you have widgets and gizmos on your page as anything with javascript does affect the download speed.
Click on EDIT at the corner of your page's text box

Click on the hyperlink symbol as in the diagram above. You will then be prompted to add a website url to where your external album is hosted i.e. your Flickr site etc, here I have just entered my webpage address. A code will appear in your text box. Between the two arrows as in the diagram add some text ie. "Click here" this will form your hyperlink to where your album is hosted. Then click save. You have now created a hyperlink to your external album
